Wow, a full weekend of non-stop, no-holds-barred intensity with 1000s of sweaty dudes and the occasional chick. I sure am sore.

Photo dump in OP. Too retard and lazy to edit them for order or weed out shitty pics to keep the best. I didn't get as many pics and sets as I'd like because of all the moshing, crowdsurfers and stage divers when you get in close. Sorry about that.

Creeping Death - newer, old meets modern death metal band from TX. has played MMF before. They tore up the bar stage and had people spilling out into the hallway. I think their set from a previous year had better energy and flow, but I think there were some technical issues that disrupted them this year. Good times, though. Worth checking out if you like newer stuff like Gatecreeper.

Death Angel - Not the best that I've seen them, mostly because I just saw this same tour in the fall. But it was cool to catch them in the ballroom with a big crowd. Sound was good, and the energy was up. I saw a girl that I seriously think could be Cristina Mariani or her body double. She was really vibing to the mellower funk stuff from Act III. They also went back to the Ultra-Violence from 1987, which was their first time playing in Milwaukee.

Monstrosity - really glad to have been able to see these guys. One of the best aspects of MMF is gathering up all the bands in one place that you likely would have no shot at seeing. Loud as fuck, and physically massive on stage. They had 3 fucking guitar players like they were Iron Maiden or something! Definitely left my ears ringing.

Nunslaughter - crusty, blackened death punk that reminds me of early sodom, sepultura, venom, etc. mixed with hardcore. really fun to see live. they must have a serious underground following, because tons of chicks were there painted up like undead satanic sluts for their set. my third time seeing them recently. props to them for grinding their way through the underground for so long.

Obituary - Played the ballroom this year and it was fucking packed. Everything was firing on all cylinders for them. Graphics, sound, setlist, crowd were all completely on point. Maybe a top 3 performance of the weekend. Opened with Redneck Stomp and it was mayhem from that point onward.

Acid Bath - I personally never listened to these guys, but Jamey Jasta said they've been trying to get them for the past 4 years. Guitarist told the crowd that the last time they were around, Slayer headlined and everybody hated them. I can kinda see why. Interesting stuff and they had a big crowd. Love it or hate it, MMF gives you a wide variety of bands to choose from.

Agalloch - One of the real treats of the weekend. Played 2 sets, this one was a variety of material. Sounded amazing. Played a song for only the 3rd time ever. Definitely one of the highlights for the week. Can't believe they sounded so good up in the ballroom with their kind of style. Props to their crew. They really knew how to dial it in. oomox really missed out with this one.

Incantation - didn't start until midnight, wtf! Sounded great and played some of the more aggressive, uptempo stuff, which I prefer for a live setting. Can't say much more. Just one of the classic death metal bands from the classic era.

Macabre - MMF mainstays. Played upstairs and drew a massive crowd all things considered. Perfectly fitting for this particular weekend. Wrote an entire concept album (some say their best) about Jeffrey Dahmer, one of Milwaukee's most notable homosexual residents who famously preyed upon gay men and was at one point attempting to create a zombie sex slave. So it was pure magic that they were able to honor him on Pride Weekend 🏳️‍🌈🧟. Also, take note of the "package" I caught during their performance of a song about one of xoxo's favorite philosophers: https://ibb.co/0jCFC1mJ

Havok - Colorado thrashers who are probably the best modern era thrash band out there, in my opinion. They had great sound on the middle stage and had it packed to the absolute max. Thankfully played their best song, Prepare for Attack, which went neglected for many years. I just hope they can solidify their lineup. They seem to constantly rely on fill-ins to be able to tour.

Castrator - all-female death metal band, go figure. probably all man-hating lesbians, so another perfect pride weekend performance. very sweaty at the bar stage. pretty cool, peaked in the middle of their set. Don't think the drummer is completely qualifed to play that style of music. but she is a chubby little slut, i'll give her that.

Armored Saint - another band I've never seen. sounds really amazing on the middle stage. played milwaukee for the first time in 1985 with metallica and wasp. Famously (?) the singer turned down the opportunity to sing for Metallica when they formed but then joined Anthrax for a decade of absolutely forgettable music (which he played on Sunday).

Weekend Nachos - Powerviolence from Chicago and the most insane set of the entire weekend (heh) in the bar. If you can find some footage on youtube if anybody uploads it, check it out. Fucking insane. So much stage diving, even into the waiting arms of motherfuckers in wheelchairs right up on the rail. Hardcore fans are a different breed, that's for fucking sure.

Suicidal Tendencies - came out on fire, but they spent way too much time talking and "extending" their songs with crowd hype shit. Not a good fit for crossover thrash songs that should be short and fast. still, everybody seemed to love them. I've just seen them other times do it way better.

Machine Head - I don't really like them, but I have to give Robb Flynn credit for having his fingerprints all over so much stuff in metal throughout the years. They sounded really good and were well-suited for the middle stage. Guitar YouTuber named Ben Eller was filling in on lead guitar, which I had no clue was happening. He filled in for Mastodon at a festival for Brent Hinds recently as well. Kind of cool for him. His channel is pretty solid and entertaining.

Killswitch Engage - Another top performance up in the ballroom. I'm kind of surprised I like these guys so much, cuz it's definitely full of emo shit. Their sound was also dialed in great. Kicked things off with some crowd pleasers and then went into some new stuff. Have previously seen them a few times, and they've always put on a great show. Their singer has definitely been diddled.

I'm very curious to see if they can keep this up and come back again next year and thereafter. There are definitely some bands that are still out there that have never played and would be great draws for them. Shit, Slayer seems to be the least "retired" band ever. Bring those old bastards in for a cash grab. Some of the biggest crowds I've ever seen were this weekend, even up in the ballroom earlier in the day. Tons of people were there for Prong at like 3pm, and they suck!

I've always liked these writeups of yours, even though I'm not into metal and recognize very few of these names
