The body's defenses against inflammation are not only weakened by old age, but by an adult lifetime spent eating cookies and drinking beer. Some of these therapies people are taking to cure COVID make about as much sense as waxing your car after it's already rusted out.
If you eliminate sugar, cured meats and alcohol, that helps. If you have trouble eating healthy, buy a bunch of spices and put them on everything you eat. Find herbal teas you like and brew them cold or hot depending on their chemical profile. |

While you can’t unrust something, you can convert rust to ferus oxide (whatever it’s called) and of course you can remove the rust mechanically or chemically, weld in a patch etc.
I think health is similar. The body heals itself.

The inflammation is triggered by free radicals invading your cells searching for an electron. Keep a steady supply of electrons available and your cells don't get inflamed. This is why cutting edge cancer therapies are antioxidant therapies.
However if you eat sugar and drink alcohol regularly, you are already fighting off inflammation non-stop. You probably have blotchy skin, acne, rashes that appear for no reason, headaches, arthritis, who knows what. Even if you cut out all those things the day and adopt a healthy lifestyle, it will be a long time before you recover from all that inflammation.
Also that same inflammation is triggering insulin resistance and clogged arteries. So no shit those are markers of increased severity. |
