I am doubtful this is the case, however, since the soviets put a probe on Venus in 1961. Surely the aliens themselves could have made their way to earth, just as we could make our way to Venus if our lives depend on it. I suppose one possible explanation is that terrestrial conditions were so different from Venerian conditions that the Venusians could only send the most basic anaerobic organisms.
