Why are so few people vegetarian? Seems healthier.

even if it did have some possible longevity benefit i still wouldnt become a vegetarian
i do it every lent and no matter what veg foods i’m eating or not eating(it’s always nutritious/“healthy” with no sweets) i feel far worse than when i’m having steak multiple times per week

It’s probably marginally healthier but most of the studies done on this seem consistent with only a small all cause mortality reduction. Most people would be much better served by worrying about their exercise, sleep, blood lipids, alcohol or smoking.

If they have high APOB and lifestyle interventions don’t work, statins or PCSK9 inhibitors are justified.

Any restrictive diet is healthier relative to the standard American diet.
And no, the "optimal healthy diet" is not vegetarian.
