Follow AI Ethical Principles and DoW Values

Follow Information Security Policies

Use GenAI.mil in accordance with existing DoW policies regarding information security and handling. GenAI.mil is approved for processing Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). It is not approved for handling Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Protected Health Information (PHI), or classified information.

Verify GenAI Outputs

Verify the output of generated content from GenAI.mil. Users are responsible and accountable for the accuracy of information obtained via a GenAI query.

Cite GenAI Usage Appropriately

When using GenAI.mil to create work products, it is recommended to disclose the models that were used and the manner in which they were employed.

Do Not Use for Unlawful or Prohibited Activities

Do not use GenAI.mil to create content that violates the laws of the United States or the policies of the Department of War.

Do Not Use for High-Impact AI Use Cases

Do not use GenAI.mil for use cases that are "high impact", as defined by OMB Memorandum M-25-21(opens in new tab), unless appropriate assessments and mitigations have been implemented.

Use of GenAI.mil is restricted to official government business only. Do not use GenAI.mil for personal activities.
