I didn't think I'd have as close of friends as I have now - truly like family. I don't live near my relatives - my friends have picked me up from the hospital and taken care of me after surgery better than my family would have. We were the first people in the hospital for their newborn / my goddaughter - before their blood family.
I used to think I didn't need anyone else but myself, took pride in it. And although that's still actually true - we can all survive on our own, and I would be fine - I'm so grateful to have my closest friends to wade through the shit of life with. Our parents age and die off, we experience loss and tragedy we never saw coming, through all that shit I know I have been and am lucky to have these fuckers in my life. |
