He is one of my favorite players of all time, stylistically. One of my first concerts was an Ozzy show with him playing and he blew me away. I've probably seen him 8-10 times over the past couple years doing shit like the Hendrix Experience (which is completely 180, go see it if it comes to your town), Zakk Sabbath, Pantera, and he toured with Vai and Yngwie and others for the "Generation Axe" tour
He always does this thing where he goes on an extended solo and literally walks out into the crowd - he was probably 100+ feet from the stage (wired in, no wireless bullshit) in the crowd at one of the shows i saw
I LOVED him in the Pantera redo, just loved him in that |

He is pretty overrated though. Listen to ANY of his solos. He uses the same box pentatonic lick in EVERY FUCKING SOLO. gets boring fast. |

i agree that theres not as much variety in his solos compared to some other guitarists, but there's enough so that i really enjoy him. |

other than some songs on some spotify playlists (and a few opeth albums lol), ive listened to almost no rock music for a really long time (like... over a year). been listening to classical music, house/techno, and a lot of snythwave/indie pop type stuff. this is inspiring me to listen to some rock/metal though. |
