It could have been pretty chill, and the Arabs really do not "care" about the Palestinians, not any more than anyone cares about anyone else really. It's just you're going to go along with your own best interests, and it seems like Israel could easily have incentivized the entire middle east to peace. Also the pro-Palestinian sentiment in the middle east strikes me as just a convenient rallying point for anti-Israel sentiment that exists for other underlying reasons.
