Posting “Will I maek it” for a decade on an archaic racist internet law message board for a decade while switching from insurance defense salaried partner job to the next isn’t how you accomplish anything.
You’re in your 40s, ostensibly hate your life even though it’s objectively good, but too risk averse to switch careers or even start your own firm.
What are you even doing to give yourself steps towards “maeking it?”

most of us will never maek it like chandler because we don't have the balls to hustle like chandler, take a risk, and charge off the beaten path.
i certainly don't have what it takes. i play it safe, do the conventional thing, and i get the conventional rewards. at a certain point, you gotta accept you are who you are

it's obvious but people don't want to see it -- most people don't make a ton of money, so if you want to make a ton of money you have to do something most people don't do.
instead folks like disco fries just do the same thing again and again, playing it safe, and then wonder why wanting to maek it but not actually doing anything exceptional doesn't yield results.
not everyone can or will maek it and that's ok. i did something kinda brave once, and all my money is due to that. did that teach me anything, though? not really, because at bottom i'm a conventional play it safe guy, and so be it

I think we should meet up and hang out before you pass these kinds of judgments. I don’t know how you can act like we are so different when you haven’t even bothered to try to meet me.
I get that you are more private and reserved maybe in your personality.
I take issue with your implied position that I never took CSLG’s advice or didn’t try to make my life better. I think that’s wrong, I also think you would know better if you tried to get to know me instead of just judging me off of posting history.
Finally, you make it seem like I have the worst professional existence and that nothing could be lower. Being unemployed is way lower, as you well know.

I’ve been to California at least 4 times to see CSLG. He’s met my entire family. I took his advice about moving, about getting a work from home job, about pursuing out-of-the-box options to try and set myself up. It is incredibly difficult to just drop everything I am doing and go in a different direction though. I don’t have any fall back. I have a family and a house to pay for. It’s not like I can just borrow $2m from a family member if it all goes belly up.
There are some very real constraints to just quitting my line of work entirely to open up my own practice solo with no leads or anything. Neither of you would do that either.
Also, I really think we should just hang out and discuss because I don’t want to be too specific about all that I’ve done. But I have been working at this. And, I’ve come a very long way in the last 3 years. You accuse me of not changing at all. It’s not fair.
Also, need I remind me that I have taken my whole family to visit your brother’s grave? I could have stayed at the beach sipping Mai tai, but no, we piled in the cab and went up there to pay our respects and do something outside the lines a bit because I felt like it was important.

Yeah I love you brother. If I didn’t I’d just say “oh yeah 100% you’re going to make it”
Risk taking is for people in their 20s and early 30s.
Why do you not understand you objectively have a top 20% life other than your own mental state?

Chandler is getting a bit cocky. When he tried to do the “xo firm” with Kenny he couldn’t handle it and obviously didn’t want to work with Kenny so starting his own firm didn’t work out. He just got lucky that cslg took him under his wing.
