And these decisions are made at a very early age. If she's not on a top 5 or so team in your state by age 10, she might as well quit. It's never going to happen for her.

if your daughter is 12 or under, i'd say the following are the best clubs for training and opportunities to progress at the elite level:

Matchfit Morris

Football Academy

STA - Morris United

Cedar Stars - Monmouth

Real Football Academy

PDA North

SJEB

Worldclass

Torpedoes

Every kid on the first team at any of those clubs has the potential to play D1 soccer. FA in particular is a new club so their older teams aren't great but holy shit every team from U8-U14 is really fucking strong.

it just doesn't seem like a particularly great path for a daughter, you would be killing yourself in hopes of a scholarship to a school that fits her athletic ability and not intellectual ability and that's a best case scenario, she could fall in love with soccer and want to play so bad she takes a div iii offer at some directional state u and gets knocked up by the janitor

Its laughably far from home. I feel immense guilt about not having my daughter start playing soccer at a younger age. At least twice a month I ask her if she's enjoying it and tell her after next season she can stay with this team, play on a less competitive team or quit altogether. Choice is totally hers. I wasn't soliciting advice. I was stating facts in my OP.

I just get a kick out of your arrogance. I've never encountered someone so confident of his position on every issue even when he is completely ignorant, as you are here.

So far not bad. We've had a couple weekend tournaments in PA just far enough that it made sense to get a hotel.

In the later teenage years, you'll be flying across the country multiple times a year for tournaments. Or driving 5 hours each way for a single league game.

There are 333 D1 women's soccer teams each with a roster of about 30 players. That's 10,000 players. I live in northern NJ which has one of if not the highest concentration of elite soccer academies in the world.

For boys, it's much harder. So many more boys play so the competition to make any decent team is really tough. Even mediocre clubs will field 3 teams at every age level and still have cuts. And then there are a ton of international recruits for D1 programs. You really have to be an exceptional talent to play D1 men's soccer nowadays.

Bro I grew up in the same area and played baseball at one of the “Bosco’s.” I am married to a fuckin soccer chick who I dated in HS (she went to our sister school) who played D1 at a SUNY while I played at a DIII. I have no doubt that she got dicked every time she was “drunk” and refuses to admit it to me. I even try to tell her I would be turned on by it if she told me the stories. She still refuses and says I’m being ridiculous. I know she cheated.

Point of this story is we always planned on going to the same college. It’s super random depending on what they need that year, whether the coach likes you etc.

Look on instagram at the competition now compared to how it was when we were kids. We competed with towns these kids compete in universes now. If a coach from Stetson wanted to see a kid play from California in 1993 he got on a plane. Now he clicks instagram.
