The firm has ex-senators and ex-reps who can make phone calls to their friends in congress or in agencies. Powerful ex congressmen control a lot of the access to congress and executive agencies. They all are partners in government relations firms or they start their own firms.
They can also make shit tons of money from speeches. Your organization can add a ton of prestige and cachet by paying 50k to some famous ex-pol to speak and glad-hand a bunch of dorks who would love a photo and a chat (“I have this amazing idea on healthcare!”) |
