The idea of getting married has gotten much less appealing as I've grown older. Just looking at my exes, I'm glad I didn't marry any of them. I dodged several bullets, such as a super-striver careerist shrew and another who turned out to have severe mental health issues that went untreated. Both of those would've been a sequence of drama before an inevitable divorce.
My married friends don't seem particularly happy, either. They still have nearly the same life problems as I do, except they just have a wife to share those problems with. Those with kids always seem exhausted from raising the kids.
Several have even gotten divorced, one of which is now raising her child on her own.
Overall, it just seems like a gamble. 50/50 that it'll either improve your life or cause ruin.
