Mine expires in 20 days, I outright canceled the renew.
Easily thousands of dollars spent on the Xbox ecosystem since I jumped back in in 2017. Currently own both a Series X and Series S. One in my apartment one in my family's home across state.
I will play my single player games on my Series X, but every multiplayer experience I buy from now on will be on PS5 or PC. Just picked up the pre-order for the Ghost of Yotei PS5 ... I was on PlayStation up until early 2017. Guess I'm going back. It's been a great ride on Xbox. Truly the most pro-consumer console from 2016 to 2020. They did a lot to improve the mistakes of the early Xbox One days. Phenomenal services, excellent value, tons of pro-consumer moves like backwards compatibility. Their moves in accessibility were unparalleled.
In many ways Xbox did move the industry forward in a positive direction. At least that was the case until the Activision Blizzard merger. At which point they decided to go scorched earth on their own loyal fan base.
Xbox fans are not unreasonable, but we also don't like being repeatedly slapped in the face. When you raise the price of game pass ultimate to $20, a lot of people were pissed, but they stuck around.
When you failed to release quality exclusives at the launch of your current gen system, a lot of us were pissed, but we stuck around.
When you told us that you would be putting Xbox console exclusive games on other platforms, some of us felt a bit miffed, as you had only just started releasing quality games on a consistent basis .... But we tolerated it and stuck around.
When you raised the price of a consoles by $50 ... A lot of people were pissed but they stuck around.
When you fired some very talented developers and dismantled prominent studios, ending the development of big titles like Perfect Dark ... A lot of us were very pissed, but we begrudgingly stuck around.
When you started to put Phil Spencer in the background, making sure he doesn't have to take any hard questions, and only pushing forward interns or new employees to always deliver bad news to the fans, we noticed it, we were seeing what was going on, but we stuck around.
When you raised the price yet again, on the consoles, a lot of us saw clearly the end of Xbox consoles, but decided to ride out the rest of this generation and stick around ...
And then you went and slapped us in the face twice as hard by increasing the price of game pass by 50% overnight.
We are no longer sticking around.
We had a good run Xbox, but the spiral of self-destruction has gone on long enough.
