It's a great message for anyone who has a throng of haters, which goes hand in hand with being successful, like Joel. I had previously sought to destroy each hater, but Joel teaches this is not what God wants.
Joel uses the analogy of an eagle. Sometimes, eagles get annoyed by crows, who like to gang up and harass them. Even though the eagle could kill a crow in one swipe, the eagle does not fight back. Instead, he rises above and flies to a higher altitude, smartly knowing that the crows cannot follow. This is how you should deal with your haters, rise above them, even though it would be very easy to quickly dispose of them like the eagle. |
