About me:

5’9” mid20s Asian

On site job a bit under 6 figures with PTO

A2~B1 Spanish

Clock in time: 8:00 am April 24

Clock out time: 6:00 pm May 4, Total duration 9.5 days

Ending report:

8 closes

14 dates

3 I ended because they were noticeable catfishes

Half the dates were 90%-completely in Spanish

4 were into asian culture (here before someone says Kpop Karry lol)

My first time in Latam and I think I gotta say it’s better than Eastern Europe, especially during the winter. The weather, even approaching winter, is literally perfect. If we compare peak seasons, it’s up to debate though. I essentially just used like 3 of the most popular dating apps and tried to schedule as much as I can. All the dates came from online except one, who actually approached me during the day an hour after I landed, as I was eating on a stone table in a plaza. She told me it was peligroso to lay my stuff around, but I said la sola cosa peligrosa aqui es TU. She ended up buying me a sim card and a coffee and we met up later in the evening at my place. I then had another quick date right after that and closed also. So it was a very good introduction to South America!

Won’t describe every date since they were pretty straightforward: just quick coffee, walk, food, bus, my place or hers. I probably gathered around 300 matches total along with a ton of flakes, but I always was able to call in reinforcements. I ran airbnbs and used public transportation but also the Uber Moto, which was super fun. I did some clubbing but found it too homogenous and too hard to understand the Spanish in that environment. I travel lightly with just a backpack and a fanny pack, I try to do laundry during my half day mark locally.

I performed cold approaches too, and almost all were responsive over text and said they were down to go out, but by the litmus test nothing happened. Give me a month and it'll definitely be possible. Back in the US I would rarely get responses even, even after getting contacts.
