The premise of the GOP establishment being good faith actors failed. She lost due to the GOP establishment betraying her. The October 7th. Access Hollywood tape caused Comey to sabotage Hillary 11 days before the election to save the GOP downballot from a Dem trifecta (even at the risk of electing Trump). Hillary could've won anyway had she just run as a progressive & courted bernie votes vs. snubbing them to court republicans, but she felt more at home with the latter, and she wanted to make inroads into the GOP coalition for 2020.
Keep in mind that it was supposed to Hillary vs. Jeb with Trump being a third party protest vote a la Perot after losing to Jeb in the primary thus guaranteeing it for Hillary. It was Bill who encouraged Trump to run to begin with. |
