Country music as it's played on the folk level is actually very nice and stirring. I enjoy live bluegrass and acoustic guitar work from time to time. It's not my go-to genre but the authentic strains of it that exist are culturally important and enriching
The stuff that hits the radiowaves as "country music" is slop but that's because it has to pass through the grotesque sieve of Capitol Records first, with all of the mongrelization and soul-filter tweaking that that entails
They produce and promote abominations out of a west coast laboratory of commercial grotesqueries and call this "National Soul" with all of the sincerity of a carnival barker
