Boy who hangs around the neighborhood a lot, plays with the kids. The word is he lives on Harview Circle, which is about six streets away, but afaik no kid has ever been to his house or yard. He just comes and hangs around here. I remember him being around a lot just towards the end of covid, and now in the last few months he's always around.

Nice enough person, nothing immediately ominous about him. But... I swear he has been "nine" for a few years now, and once I heard another parent ask him if he was "Tommy's younger brother".

"You must be... you look exactly like Tommy. Tommy must be, what, a senior in high school now."

This kid denied knowing what the parent was talking about, but I could tell he was rattled.

Some other things that bother me: He caught a great football pass once in the park near our house, and I heard him say he was just like "Herman Moore", the old Detroit Lion from the 90s. What boy born in 2016 knows Herman Moore?

Also, once there was a firecracker like boom from a nearby car, and this kid walked over and suggested it was the catalytic converter. I overheard this and said, "What? What did you just say?!" and he just ran away.

Finally, there's something very odd about the way he interacts with my wife. I told her I don't like this "kid", and she really reacted aggressively.

truly strange. seems like something is up but i agree it's difficult to put your finger on it. odd behavior from the kid but could all be explainable. Maybe his dad is a car guy and a big Lions fan. Maybe your wife has a soft corner for the kid.

One question I that's nagging at me though, your height and height of the kid?

if you close your eyes and picture the average american guy, thats me. I bet you could even guess my car.

this "child" is about 4'3", Id say, but there's something really disjointed about how he moves. Remember when, as kids, we'd draw stop-frame animation pictures in the top corner of a notebook and flip through to make the animation come to life? That's how it is watching him walk

Yep. You definitely strike me as a mild mannered, 5'9"-5'10" guy. Lives in Northern Virginia/Ohio/possibly St. Louis, drives a Tesla or a Honda CRV

The kid though. Weird. Know what you mean about his gait. Like he's waving his arms and walking bowlegged. Does he have kind of...bulbous features. Almost as if he's an Archie comic or an exaggerated of Hamilton "Ham" Porter from the Sandlot version of come to life? Maybe a nose that's just a prism with a rounded tip?

There was a law and order about this IIRC. Maybe more than one.
