Trump won by a couple of % points in swing states. Despite New York having a greater margin of victory for Trump than NY for Kamala.

So pollsters have to use that data to make assumptions based on past data, and they adjust those assumptions to just say "it's 50/50ish!" If the data suggested a landslide one way or the other, then they'd conclude something was wrong with their model and then adjust it so it came out closer to 50/50.
People acted like that Iowa poll was dishonest, but it was actually probably the only honest poll. Based on her methodology, her poll came out with Kamala ahead by that margin. It's just that her methodology didn't apply anymore, and she didn't fraud it like the rest of the pollsters. |
