this is so obvious, but it has almost no representation in 'the discourse.' it's completely off-the-table in any sort of mainstream forum. |

i think the most convincing irl evidence of this is the number of people in national and state parks and campgrounds. when i was growing up, these were populated with comfortable numbers of people, and visiting them was generally a very pleasant experience
now, they are absolutely packed all the time. like completely packed to a gross and shocking degree. yeah, the demographic makeup is disgusting too. but just the sheer numbers of people crowding these public areas is ridiculous
it really feels like there are 2x as many people here as there were when i was a kid. that may actually be the real number. i would not be shocked at all |
