You can check out Natural Bridges, Goosenecks, and Valley of the Gods - all incredibly 180 and Valley of the Gods is outstanding for camping. You could also check out the native ruins in the 4 corners region on the way to telluride - mesa verde, canyons of the ancients, etc. From there you can head to a town like Salida or Leadville before heading to Denver.
