I remember one kid when we were sophomores getting peed on by a senior. It was pretty fucked up. Not the only instance but a very not cool. I also remember one kid didn't get pubes until he was a sophomore. That must have been brutal for him.
I also remember showering after we'd play basketball at the Y. I had a long discussion with my next door neighbor while he was completely naked there. |

We'd typically take a shower first thing when we came into the school before the first period so that we were fresh for our morning classes. A big group of us would go in there, twenty, thirty guys at a time (this was an all guys school) and we'd soap each other up and do our shit. Part of our motivation was to toughen up for the day ahead. Then, after we had our PhysEd class usually mid-day and before Sext Prayers we'd hit the showers again and our coach and a couple assistant coaches would continue the lesson in the shower--whatever we'd been working with in the "arena" as we called it they'd keep it going in the shower, demonstrating new techniques or tactics. Some of the bigger guys would be pretty sweated up by the end of the day so sometimes they'd want to hit the showers with each other a third time toward the end of the day to chill out and if we had a cool room monitor he'd let us bring some toys and what not in there with us. So by the end of the day it was practically a Roman Bath for some of us and none of us were negatively affected by it it became a way of life like fighting fires or being a fighter pilot anyway. other than that, nobody showered after gym class. i don't even think it was an option. there wasn't enough time. one of our teachers even made jokes about it, as if he wasn't completely aware that no one showered.
we had pre-season workouts before school early as hell, and we showered after those, but there wasn't a time crunch. HOWEVER, everybody wore swimming trunks. not sure when that started, but it was just known that you didn't hit the showers naked. |

I remember at least once in middle school when the gym teacher got mad no one was showering and basically started screaming at everyone to get in the shower or they'd fail - so people did it then.
I also vaguely remember people like just getting their hair wet at times and not showering.
But the whole thing is super weird. I think most of us were pretty chill about the showers but there was so much bullying and shit talking throughout the rest of middle and high school it seems very odd to then force kids to shower naked together prison style. |
