Which reminds me, I should add Assault on Precinct 13 and The Fog to that list. I love both of those movies conceptually but the actual execution is a little meh. |

Angie Dickinson was smoking hot but there was no chemistry with John Wayne. the Dean Martin alcoholism arc doesn't ring true. Ricky Nelson was there for a star turn (although his musical numbers were 180).
but there were quite a few scenes that did work. the opening scene is superb.

the Mexican innkeeper and his wife are very funny.
the film was done as a counterpoint to High Noon, because Wayne and Hawks thought a sheriff shouldn't be wracked by self-doubt and run around and then be rescued by his Quaker wife.

raiders of the lost ark i agree with. just not that interesting to me. actually all the big movies with harrison ford. don’t hate him but don’t enjoy any of those films |

he did a really good job with the first two. made great films out of “hobbits” and a gay wizard wandering around then middle of a trilogy no resolution, straying from the source material thing that really should have sucked.
third movie didn’t deliver imo but maybe i thought so because i had expectations for it while the first two i was pleasantly surprised |
