Spending 10% of your waking hours commuting should carry more of a social cost than smoking or being an alcoholic. You’re making choices that are horrible for you, make you worse for everyone who depends on you, and impose more costs on society. This is yet another reason why WFH at least 3 days a week needs to become a social expectation, and time in office should be required to include in person activity.
