Turns out before they married she was indeed crazy, like institutionalized at a facility more than once. But from a "good" old money family so my buddy went along with it.
She locked him out of the house multiple times in like January/February where he was shivering cold for 45 minutes trying to get in.
Sheriffs came to serve him with divorce papers while they were home eating breakfast, he had no idea it was coming. For whatever reason they kept sleeping in the same bed during their entire divorce, she would do shit like pour a coke can onto his side of the bed, throw vases at his head full force (smashing on the wall behind him), and other insane shit. Don't know why he put himself through all of that.
The DAY the divorce was finalized she fucked the biggest manwhore we know and texted my buddy to gloat about it. |

They fall into the inevitable cycle and he slowly retreats into the relationship and detaches from the rest of his loved ones and the world. She eventually cheats and it’s enough to finally spur him to leave. The divorce is acrimonious. Hopefully before there are kids. His ability to love is never fully restored and the second wife is always a pathological carer trying to undo the damage.
But let’s all recall that a friend of ours was literally assassinated by his in-laws for having the audacity to want to remain close to his children following the divorce. Fatally assassinated to death *by a bunch of dentists!* How dare he want the family to stay in the small city where his wife made him move and he nevertheless managed to attain tenure. |

2. Good for the cops & courts. One of the under appreciated aspects of old-school small towns was the locals ability to apply good context to how they handled things. Would not trust my municipality to have that good of judgment or to exercise that amount of discretion in this day and age.
3. Sad conclusion. Sounds like she had other drug or mental health issues. |
