These are the guys who just spent the last 4 years under Biden talking about how bad deficits are.

It's clear at this point that there's absolutely no one in DC, in either party, who wants any restraint on deficit spending. And I am so, so, so looking forward to the day when EXTERNAL limits upon deficit spending kick in. This will most likely involve bond purchasers refusing to buy US bonds and turning to those of other countries.

THAT is when the shit is going to hit the fan, and it is going to be GLORIOUS.

Congress is going to be like "what the fuck do you mean we can't borrow more money? Give us the fucking loan!"

Hey dude you should go back to Germany and help them demo the few power plants they have left. Then you wouldn't have to worry about the US government so much

The whole “both sides are equally bad” schtick doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense. Only one party is trying to reduce the size of the government and has a stated goal of $2 trillion in budget cuts. And the other party is doing everything they can to obstruct the effort.

The House passed 1.5 trillion in cuts, and the Senate is working right now on reducing, not increasing that. There was some talk last week about the Senate going for 2 trillion, but they now seem to have decided on going as low as they can BELOW the House.

Yes, I'm sure the Dems would spend a lot, but they wouldn't want tax cuts for billionaires and corporations either. So both sides are in fact awful on the deficit, just in different ways.

I don't know what the Democrats want. No one does either. Other than trans rights and men in women's sports and war in Ukraine forever, what exactly is the Democratic platform?

The Biden admin exploded deficit spending in the name of American infrastructure renewal but seems to have accomplished nothing but 20 billion for Stacy Abram's latest grift.

I'm not wild on the GOP's current approach and the tariffs worry me but at least there's a plan. They have to get rid of the limits to cut more taxes, which they believe will cause substantial economic growth. That, along side with massive budget cuts, even if just 1 trillion, would, in theory, strictly in theory, help not only reduce the deficit but also the share of deficit relative to the size of the economy. If both work out, it's an excellent gamble to take.

Whatever we think of this gamble, at least it's a plan for addressing the deficit. Something which the Democrats have none and which they have done nothing about since the Clinton days. When I think about it long and hard, I really have no idea what the Democrats believe in or stand for other than trans and TDS.
