it seems like the suspect is from the same small town as the victim, which suggests a personal/labor dispute rather than something random:
Depoe Bay homicide suspect captured following chase on Highway 20 with law enforcement
LINCOLN COUNTY, Ore. – A man suspected of killing a Depoe Bay business owner was arrested on Thursday morning following an extended chase on Highway 20 with multiple law enforcement agencies, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s authorities said that deputies responded at 10:17 a.m. on January 30 to multiple reports of gunshots fired at the Four Winds Inn on Highway 101 in Depoe Bay.
Responding deputies arrived and found the owner of the business, identified as 44-year-old Sarabjit Singh, was deceased from multiple gunshot wounds, sheriff’s officials said. Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies said that the suspect, who was identified as 29-year-old Brennon Michael Neal of Depoe Bay, had left the scene in a dark grey sedan and alerted surrounding law enforcement agencies.
A sergeant with the Toledo Police Department spotted Neal’s vehicle at about 11:16 a.m. as it traveled eastbound on Highway 20, authorities said. Sheriff’s officials said that Neal refused to stop for authorities and continued traveling eastbound at varying speeds for about 35 miles per hour before Neal’s vehicle drove over spike strips. Neal continued traveling eastbound for several miles on damaged tires before Oregon State Police forced Neal to stop with a patrol vehicle, sheriff’s officials said.
LCSO authorities said that the incident is under continued investigation.
