My contract was coming to an end so I get the typical contact from Lexis. Didn't pick up but it was a weird voicemail where the guy said "you're going to want to pick this up." I thought they were just trying to shill their AI stuff like westlaw and every other co right now, so I call the guy back.
He does start talking about their AI stuff but then abruptly changes tone and says "let me cut to the point. I reviewed your public database pulls and you incorrectly certified that you complied with the GLBA on dozens of occasions." Which is correct. I just didnt think anyone reviewed that stuff.
He tells me that he is *obligated* to forward the findings to their internal review unit, which he tells me *will* work with law enforcement if necessary. i think the second part is probably bluffing but its not like i did comply with the GLBA. I have improperly pulled records like 100 times.
He tells me that he may not do all that if I sign up for one of their new contracts. I *was* paying $1500 a month. Now my firm is paying $7500 a month for a 3 year contract lmao. tbf i was going to upgrade anyway but not by this much.
Lol that this guy committed a federal crime to get a big commission but i guess it worked.
