We should all obsess over it since we invented it. It's not a normal part of nature. Our awe is totally warranted since consciousness is totally unexpected given our limited understanding of nature. Since, given our limited understanding of nature, we wouldn't expect consciousness, it is therefore a miracle and totally baffling, not something we should accept as intrinsic to the world we happen to find ourselves in. We should be perpetually shocked that consciousness exists, since we didn't expect it, even though we use consciousness as the basis of our faculty for expectation.
