Some Reviews:

Destructoid - Scott Duwe - 10 / 10

10s aren't perfect, since nothing is, but they come as close as you could get in a given genre. The new leader to beat in its sector, we're talking pure ecstasy. An iconic all-time story has been reborn for a new generation, and it's the best iteration of the classic Nintendo 64 favorite we've gotten yet. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 is a must-play, whether you're a franchise fan or not, and one of the best examples of how to properly reimagine an enduring masterpiece.

CG Magazine - Marcus Kenneth - 10 / 10

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was a masterpiece in 1998 and twenty-seven years later, it still is. With thoughtful quality-of-life changes and some excellent design rework, it is easily the best entry point into the long-running series.

Press Start - Harry Kalogirou - 10 / 10

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, is a near-perfect remaking of one of the greatest games of all time. While it's enhanced in ways both big and small, the foundations of Ocarina remain largely untouched, cementing that its excellence is deeply rooted in timeless design and effortless storytelling. Regardless of whether or not you've undertaken the Hero of Time's journey, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time simply can't be missed.

Skill Up - 'I STRONGLY RECOMMEND'

I think the target market is actually us, as in older people who have played it before, but not so that we can play it ourselves, but rather so that we can pass it on to our children or our nieces and nephews or any of the other young people in our lives. It is a little painful to acknowledge it, but I don't think Ocarina is for us anymore. The same way auroma centers the next generation of his staff when talking about this game, I think we will center the next generation when we talk about what this remake means for us. Yes, you will have a wonderful time playing through this because this is still a flawless masterpiece that has aged beautifully, made more playable than ever before by Nintendo's smart refinements and tinkering. But I think you'll have an even better time playing this alongside a child or a teenager who's never played this before, because that's the only way that you're going to break through that nostalgia barrier and truly feel what it was like to play this for the very first time all those years ago.

Respec - Alex Donaldson - 10 / 10

This version meshes best with modern tastes and looks great on today’s hardware. The core classic has aged sublimely, and where it hasn’t it has been gingerly given a respectful facelift. The magic has been preserved for a new generation. It is an effortless recommendation: a wonderful experience, a captivating history lesson, and just all-around brilliant.

Loot Level Chill - Adam Cook - 10 / 10

One of the best games of all time is exactly that again in 2026. The remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is astonishing, and an essential game whether you’re new to the title, or have played it a hundred times. I don’t think in nearly 20 years of writing this I’ve ever said this, but I’ll say it now: this is as close to perfection as it comes.

Polygon - Giovanni Colantonio - 100 / 100

I’ve spent the better part of my life hearing people repeat the claim that Ocarina of Time is the greatest game of all time. At some point, it starts to lose all meaning, like saying The Beatles are the best band of all time based solely on an accepted cultural consensus. But the Switch 2 remake reminds us why Ocarina of Time earned that accolade in the first place. Set aside any nostalgia and you’ll still be met with a big-hearted fable set in a lively fantasy world filled with characters who are as familiar as close friends. Link’s journey to adulthood and back again remains a meaningful odyssey about finding the courage to save the soul of the place that lives in your heart — a love that transcends time itself. Every word in my friend’s 4th grade assessment of that epic adventure he connected with as a kid still applies here, and that’s a testament to what could have been a soul-crushing double dip. That’s the intangible thing that I look for in a remake, something personal that’s hard to articulate in a technical breakdown. Forget the jump button or the smooth framerate: Does The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time still feel like home? Yes, it does, even with a few changes that trigger a “back in my day” reaction. I’m no longer afraid of returning to Hyrule Field and watching the sun set again. I’ve only grown to appreciate the peace and quiet more with age.

IGN Spain - Mario Seijas - 10 / 10

Nintendo brings back one of its most legendary deliveries knowing how to take advantage of the raw material and changing what had to change. An unforgettable experience both for those who already remember it with nostalgia and for those who arrive for the first time. | There is a popular saying that I like a lot and it says: “The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second best time is now.” The best time to have enjoyed Ocarina of Time and marvel at her ideas was in 1998, but now it’s still worth remembering that experience or diving into it for the first time. Whatever your case, have a happy trip to Hyrule.

IGN Brasil - Barbara Castro - 10 / 10

With at least 20 hours of my life dedicated to the game, the remake of Ocarina of Time does the impossible, which is to improve something that was already perfect. Whether by the cinematics, battles, location, simple and heroic story, details or graphics, this version becomes the most complete and beautiful of the game and, if I needed to save one between this, the original and the 3DS, I would choose the remake for sure.

ID - Cody van den Bogert - 10 / 10

Precisely because Nintendo did not want to tinker with everything, the original vision of Miyamoto and Aonuma seems to emerge even better. As a young Link you sneak past castle keepers, catch critters in empty bottles and really feel like a little boy in a far too big world. The revamped animations make that innocence palpable, bringing the sudden jump to adult Link harder. They are exactly such moments when you forget that you are playing a remake. Before you know it, you’ve completely absorbed Hyrule again, without even thinking about the age or the huge reputation of the original. The adventure touches you, again. And with that, the circle is round. A successful restoration is ultimately not about what you add, but about how much better you can see what has always been there. A timeless masterpiece.

Glitched - Marco Cocomello - 10 / 10

Ocarina of Time is a beautiful reminder of why I fell in love with gaming. Nintendo has captured the magic of a legendary adventure with a stunning remake that feels wonderfully nostalgic while still fresh. I loved every moment of returning to Hyrule, and this is a heartfelt tribute to one of gaming’s greatest classics.

Player 2 - Jess Zammit - 'A+'

This year, a new release, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, will be some small kid’s first ‘adult’ game. I don’t think they’ll have quite the same experience I did – this version of the game has controls that are far more responsive, and far fewer moments that are likely to cause ongoing nightmares. But despite it being almost 30 years on from the original release, this is still one of the greatest games ever made, and the degree to which its core design still holds up is remarkable. I’m not the same person I was when I was teaching other kids how to beat Dodongo. I’ve now beaten this game countless times, and gone on so many more of my own real life adventures. But even though it may look a little different, from the second I picked up the controller, coming back to this version of Hyrule felt like coming home – and I’m grateful I got the chance.

Console Creatures - Bobby Pashalidis - 10 / 10.0

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a monumental game. It's revered far and wide for its tale of loss, hope, and the future of a kingdom so beloved by our world. As for remakes, I'm happy to say that this one checks a lot of boxes with its updated mechanics, score, and gameplay. Few games have such a reputation, yet even three decades later, people still talk about it.

PocketTactics - Holly Alice - 10 / 10

I can barely put into words how playing the Ocarina of Time remake has made me feel. Seeing a game so ingrained in a lot of our childhoods now remade with revamped graphics, a new soundtrack, and controls that feel smooth to use has hit a nostalgic nerve - in a good way - and I'm more into the Zelda world than I have been before. I truly recommend picking up the remake, whether you've played it once, twice, or never before.

GamesRadar - Anna Koselke - 5 / 5

I'm not finished with the game just yet, as I've got one final heart piece to find to 100% all of its collectibles – and, on that note, I must express how thrilled I am that the post-game map shows you where you're missing some still – but I quickly uncover it inside of Death Mountain. Then, I am finished. Then, I feel empty. This is when I'm faced with my biggest problem with the remake: I can only have one active save file. That, and there's no Master Quest version to play through. So, for the time being, my journey with the Ocarina of Time remake ends. I'm sent back to the menu screen that still lives rent-free in my head, left wishing I could explore more of this take on Nintendo's gem, or at least enjoy it once more without losing the mark of my previous progress. This is the true – and only significant – setback of the Ocarina of Time remake for me: I must part ways with it after just 55 hours despite itching for more. I must sit waiting, hoping that Nintendo graces us with Master Quest DLC later down the line. Until then, I'll be eyeing the "New Game" option on the main menu, pondering whether I should wipe it all and take another plunge. I simply must hum Zelda's Lullaby into my Switch 2 microphone again…

VGC - Andy Robinson - 5 / 5

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s Switch 2 remake is a remarkable restoration of one of gaming’s most beloved adventures. Rather than reinventing a masterpiece, Nintendo has carefully refined what made it special, creating the definitive way for a new generation to discover it and returning players to fall in love all over again.

Eurogamer - Christian Donlan - 5 / 5

My dad always said that you should read Don Quixote three times in your life, and I only recently realised that he meant that the book changes because you change. So. When I got to the Deku Tree back at the start of Ocarina a few weeks ago, and I completed the dungeon and watched the impossible vision of the Deku Tree dying of weariness? I remembered that the first time I'd been here, almost thirty years ago, I couldn't help but identify with Link, freshly gifted a sword and shield, one dungeon down, ready for whatever came next. This time, I think, I was closer to identifying with the Deku Tree. And here's the important part: this wasn't a depressing thought. It just meant that I had taken the long route to reach this point, and this astonishing game had taken the long route too. And yet we arrived at this point together, and together we were transformed. And that's really why any of this video game stuff matters.

The Guardian - Keza MacDonald - 5 / 5

I cannot make any pretence of objectivity about Ocarina of Time. It was one of the most important games of my childhood and indeed my life; a game that showed me the possibilities of the form when the rules of video games were still being written, and cemented my love of games. I cannot play it without the influence of nostalgia, and like Link, I often felt returned to my child self as I played. But even without that powerful attachment, I think anyone would be moved by this game. Nintendo’s modern Zelda team have turned one of the best games of the 1990s into one of the best games of the 2020s, and made time-travellers out of us all.

NME - Ali Shutler - 5 / 5

Rather than a cheap cash-in to take advantage of The Legend Of Zelda’s milestone birthday, this remake of Ocarina Of Time feels loving and retains the spirit that made the original so adored. Sure, it’s millennial nostalgia-bait, but the pretty graphics, expanded world and polished soundtrack will help a new generation to see why so many consider this the greatest video game of all time.

TechRadar - Josephine Watson - 5 / 5

It’s not enough to score the game down; it’s ticking all of the obligatory boxes for a good remake, and I loved every second of it. Still, I can’t help but feel just a tinge of disappointment that most changes to the game are limited to optimisations and err on the side of “safe”. The original Ocarina of Time was great, in part, for how it took the limitations of contemporary game design and created some of its best mechanics to work around them in a creative way; without that challenge, the remake at times feels just a little unremarkable. Still, this one niggle didn’t impact my personal enjoyment of the game nor negate the many, many strengths it brings to the table, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake feels like exactly the game that the developers would have made in the late 90s were it possible on contemporary hardware. From the first time I played the game at my dad’s knee, I fell in love with the world of Hyrule, and it was just as impactful for me in its third iteration as it was in its first. Whether you’re an adult or a child, when you boot up the remake, it’s not a game you’ll forget in a hurry.

TheGamer - Colin MacGregor - 5 / 5

A beautiful, engrossing fantasy adventure that maintains its thrilling combat encounters, clever puzzles, and unique charm. This is the definitive way to experience Ocarina of Time, and know that I envy you if this will be your first time ever playing it. Enjoy it. Few games have ever reached, or will ever reach, the heights it has. Fittingly, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time transcends time and maintains its seat as one of the best video games in the world.

Dexerto - James Busby - 5 / 5

Whether you’re a returning player or a newcomer, Ocarina of Time remake is the definitive way to play Link’s legendary adventure. Nintendo has successfully breathed new life into its decades-old world of Hyrule, giving it a loving lick of paint that not only elevates it over the original, but also makes it the best-looking Switch 2 game. Just like Link’s time-travelling epic, Ocarina of Time remake honors its past and carefully combines new improvements borrowed from the series’ present to give this timeless classic the treatment it deserves. Ocarina of Time remake isn’t just a masterpiece, it’s a timeless adventure everyone needs to play.

Radio Times - Alex Raisbeck - 5 / 5

It does crush me, to an extent, to know that for scores of players, this remake will supersede the original game. Most, likely, will never see fit to return to it. And yet, equally, as much as I will always prefer the original, who am I to begrudge a new generation the opportunity to experience one of gaming's greatest achievements on their own terms? The Ocarina of Time remake is a tremendous game, and I hope that in the years to come, everyone for whom this is their first taste of Ocarina will look back on it with the same fondness and awe that its processor inspires in me.

Daily Star - Tom Hutchison - 5 / 5

While this version of Ocarina of Time looks a million miles away from the blocky original - it maintains the same playability, feel and character that made people fall so deeply in love with the game. A must-buy.

Digitally Downloaded - Matt - 5 / 5

Nintendo has done right by its greatest contribution to global art and culture. I doubt that the Ocarina of Time Remake is going to replace its forebear at the top of the Metacritic rankings, for the simple reason that the entire games industry is in a different place now. But Nintendo has effectively turned its 28-year-old classic into something that will feel modern to a new player, thus ensuring that the game will continue to remain relevant within the general discourse for another few generations yet. And now, between Final Fantasy VII and Ocarina of Time, we have some fascinating and deeply contrasting case studies for how publishers can “remake” their most valuable properties in a way that adds, rather than detracts, from the base provided by the original.

Gameliner - Patrick Lamers - 5 / 5

With the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Nintendo has proven that it is indeed possible to re-release one of the best games ever made. During development, the team made a conscious decision to stay as true to the original as possible, while still adding the right technical improvements to make the game even more enjoyable to play.

Vooks - Daniel Vuckovic - 5 / 5

I had a lot of questions when they announced this remake, and even a little fear that something so important to me could be changed, or even ruined. Having my time again in Hyrule, though, I can safely say that Nintendo has done something very special here. They haven't tried to reinvent the game, nor have they just given it a fresh coat of paint. They've taken a game that was already special and given the world and the characters in it the detail that our imaginations were filling in all those years ago. Some things really do stand the test of time, and Ocarina of Time is one of them.

ComicBook - Logan Moore - 5 / 5

With all of this in mind, I came into Nintendo’s new remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time with incredibly high expectations. Even though I assumed that I would appreciate the remake as an enormous fan of Ocarina of Time, I was hesitant to believe that Nintendo could tap into the same magic that made the original feel so groundbreaking back in 1998. Instead, after having now played it, I’m left feeling as though Nintendo’s new recreation of Ocarina of Time is one of the greatest video game remakes of all-time, and has more than validated the publisher’s decision to return to this seminal experience.

ScreenHub - Leah J. Williams - 5 / 5

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and its soaring story return at a time in the world where we need its message – of hope, and the power of the little guy. It was intentionally developed as a game to empower kids, to help them see their power and the impact of their voice. That message is what shines brightest on replay.

The AU Review - Alaisdair Leith - 5 / 5

For what it’s worth, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time isn’t just a remake; it’s a modern reimagining of what is widely considered one of the best games ever made. After spending many hours with this latest version, I can find myself sitting on the side of complete agreement. The story, characters, gameplay and music are above anything I have experienced before in a game, and I can’t wait to keep on playing to uncover all the secrets and collectibles. Nintendo has taken an undisputed classic game and completely reinvigorated it for a new generation of fans. While some fans may be left wanting more from this remaster, it easily holds up as not only one of the best games of all time, but one of the best remakes that feels like it adds to the franchise’s canon rather than being a simple cash grab. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is an absolute masterpiece, in addition to being the best game on the Nintendo Switch 2, and one of the frontrunners for the best game of 2026.

Omelete - Paloma Pinheiro - 5 / 5

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (2026) doesn't attempt to drastically change one of the best games ever made. It makes well-timed and safe additions, while trying to maintain at all costs the beauty, the pain, the farewells, and the courage that only the saga of a true Hero of Time could convey.

PC Games - Lukas Bohnau - 100 / 100

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time returns with an outstanding remake that successfully preserves the magic of the original while modernizing its gameplay. Stunning visuals, improved controls, a freely adjustable camera, and thoughtful quality-of-life improvements make exploring Hyrule more enjoyable than ever. The timeless dungeon design, memorable characters, and beautifully rearranged soundtrack remain highlights. Despite minor technical and audio issues, Nintendo delivers a remarkable remake that proves why Ocarina of Time is still considered one of the greatest video games of all time.

Shacknews - David Craddock - 10 / 10

If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. Instead, tighten screws. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 2026 sets a new standard for what remakes can be, putting it in line with the best of what studios such as Capcom have accomplished with their own remakes in recent years—changes that improve and capitalize on what’s on offer, rather than disrupting what made the original so revered and revolutionary. As much as I love the original Ocarina of Time and its 3DS remaster, I played them this summer for the last time. This is the definitive edition, a game that fans will be talking about in reverent tones for generations to come.

PCMag - Will Greenwald - 100 / 100

The Switch 2 remake of Ocarina of Time is the new definitive way to play the game, just like the remakes of Star Fox 64 and Metroid Prime are for their respective games. Sure, it looks amazing, but what really matters is that the core of the original game is there, full and undiminished. This isn’t a new game. It’s just Ocarina at its best. The real treasure here is the little fixes and updates that make this masterpiece play better on modern hardware than the original. The incredible graphics are just a nice bonus.

Engadget - Sam Rutherford - 100 / 100

For me, this new take on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is everything I expected it to be and more, thanks to subtle updates and a deft hand that preserved the feeling of the original. But for those who haven't played it previously, I still think it holds up incredibly well. Updated graphics make it more appealing to younger generations (my five-year-old is already a massive fan) and the story and gameplay feel as timeless as ever. In a way, I kind of envy anyone who hasn't experienced Link's first 3D adventure before. This Switch 2 version is a masterpiece reborn, and it's a treat for fresh eyes just as much as it is a tribute to the original.

Voxel - Luciana Anselmo - 100 / 100

Nintendo’s approach to this remake is notably safe and restrained—featuring few changes—yet it succeeds brilliantly in crafting the best version of this classic we have ever seen. I am certain that for those playing it for the first time, it will be an incredible journey, while for those who have played it dozens of times, it will be a truly nostalgic adventure.

Gfinity - Alister Kennedy - 10 / 10

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is a breathtaking Switch 2 overhaul that elevates a timeless classic into an essential modern masterpiece. With gorgeous visuals, modernized controls, a majestic orchestrated score, and clever QoL additions, it's the definitive way to experience one of gaming's greatest achievements.

Siliconera - Jenni Lada - 10 / 10

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a lavish remake of the original action-RPG for the Switch 2 with gorgeous visuals and some quality-of-life adjustments. It feels like a lovely update, along with some embellishments to add additional life and opportunities to some areas from the original. I would call it another tribute to perhaps one of the best and most influential entries in the series.

LevelUp - Pedro Pérez Cesari - 10 / 10

Far more than a simple graphical facelift, this Switch 2 remake is a deeply respectful reimagining that modernizes a masterpiece. By bringing the 1998 concept art to life and introducing massive quality-of-life improvements—including free jumping and a mercifully quiet Navi—it delivers the definitive way to experience Hyrule. The newfound fluidity slightly diminishes the tension of classic combat and stealth sequences, but the sheer magic of this legendary adventure remains undeniable.

Areajugones - Juan Linares - 10 / 10

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was one of the best games in history and now it comes back to being one more time. A game that has renewed its graphic look and gameplay to feel modern in 2026. An experience that I would recommend both to the one who grew up with this game and to the one who can discover it for the first time. Just go into it to understand why Ocarina of Time has been considered for so long the best game in history, and why, with this remake, it deserves to continue preserving that throne. There are legends that do not age: they simply wait for the moment to be told again.

TrueGaming - Omar Al-Amoudi - 10 / 10

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a game that laid down many foundations in the video game industry with the release of the Original back in the late 90s and now, almost 30 years later, it makes a powerful return with vast improvements in every aspect. It is indeed an experience gamers would not want to miss. Its gameplay elements remain incredibly unique to this day and this is a golden opportunity for a whole new generation of gamers to engage in an all-time classic experience.

Hobby Consolas - Álvaro Alonso - 97 / 100

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake has the courage to introduce countless changes and new features, but it does so with great wisdom , always demonstrating absolute respect for the original game, and that gives it the power to become a pure gold remake; a remake worthy of the best game of all time.

Wccftech - Nathan Birch - 9.5 / 10

The praise heaped upon The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time back when it first released was not misplaced. It still stands as one of the best games of all time, the pinnacle of the Zelda franchise, and this gorgeous, technically impeccable, thoughtfully updated version of the game will allow a new generation to fully appreciate Link's greatest adventure. This is the new high-water mark for video game remakes and a note-perfect confirmation that some songs never fade.

Gamesurf - Manuel Le Saux - 9.5 / 10

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is wonderful. Even after almost twenty-eight years, it still manages to surprise me, move me, and make me fall in love with an adventure that continues to transmit joy and happiness from beginning to end. This new version is a spectacle for the eyes, with an artistic and visual sector of the highest level, accompanied by gameplay improvements that make the experience more modern and accessible without distorting its identity.

Multiplayer - Lorenzo Mancosu - 9.5 / 10

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is, quite simply, the most beautiful version of the best video game ever. If nothing will ever live up to a memory reconstructed and rearranged through the emotions of childhood, and the historical context of 1998 seems farther than ever, Nintendo has packaged this edition with a respect, a hunger for perfectionism and a degree of attention to detail out of the ordinary, opening the gates of the Kingdom of Hyrule in front of new fans and new generations, carving a diamond

Game Informer - Kyle Hilliard - 9.25 / 10

The beautiful 2026 version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time does not study the legacy or impact of the landmark game on the video game medium. Instead, it is a meticulous and incredibly impressive recreation of one of the best games ever made. I was rarely surprised during my playthrough, but I was incredibly excited to see old friends and I happily share without embarrassment that playing through its final hour made me cry. For many like me, the original Ocarina of Time is an impactful adventure that arrived at a time in their lives when magic still felt real. Playing the game again 28 years later and appreciating the care taken to maintain and improve that original vision was the ultimate surprise of the whole experience: I didn’t expect to be so moved.

The Washington Post - Gene Park - 3.5 / 4

Remakes such as Capcom’s “Resident Evil 4” in 2023 have shown how revisiting a classic can create distinct, new experiences. “Ocarina” in 2026 feels closer to a replacement, yet the original’s flat polygons and silent-movie-like cinematics retain a charm that additional detail can’t reproduce. Its limitations helped define how we remember it. Other game developers would try to iron out those wrinkles, but this remake seems interested mostly in literal seams. I’m grateful this version exists. It is still a masterpiece, and its simplicity often makes its best ideas easier to appreciate. While playing, I often thought about how much the medium grew from “Ocarina.” It remains a great tree of ideas. I only wish it allowed itself a little more room to grow.

Tom's Guide - Anthony Spadafora - 4.5 / 5

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time may not be a brand-new adventure in the Zelda universe, but it’s by far the best way to replay this timeless classic. Its stunning 4K visuals keep your eyes glued to the screen, while the completely redone orchestral soundtrack will linger in your head long after you put down the controller. Meanwhile, the addition of modern controls alongside small but significant quality-of-life upgrades make what used to feel tedious feel completely natural. If you played and loved the original, this remake is an absolute must. If Breath of the Wild was your first taste of the series, Ocarina of Time lets you experience the foundational game that made modern 3D Zelda possible, complete with all the polish you’d expect from Nintendo. There has never been a better time to strap on your sword and shield, step out of Kokiri Forest, and see what you’ve been missing.

GameSpot - Steve Watts - 9 / 10

Now, against the backdrop of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, a remake of Ocarina of Time carries a different responsibility. This isn’t merely revisiting an older Zelda in a recognizable form; it’s revisiting another era of Zelda entirely. That gives it a certain weight, and raises the question of whether this form of Zelda can still feel modern. The answer is yes. Ocarina of Time is still a wonder of game design and a thrilling adventure. This remake smooths over some rough edges, leaves others intact, and lets what was so special about the original shine through. It can be easy to forget after so many years, but the core structure and design ethos are as strong as they ever were. By approaching this remake with a degree of reverence and respect for the source material, Nintendo has shown that a true masterpiece can stand the test of time.

IGN - Logan Plant - 9 / 10

It’s in our nature to pass old stories down, and I think there’s meaning in the ones we choose to revisit. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is both an exceptional remake of an incredible game and a rich adventure that stands on its own. This remake proves there’s still so much value in the traditional Zelda formula: the dense, intimate world of Hyrule is stuffed with charming characters and fascinating secrets. Its intricate dungeons are satisfying to unravel, even if their somewhat streamlined design has slightly dulled the special feeling that comes from solving them. Still, the depth, quality, and attention to detail in every corner match the lofty reputation of this series. Whether you’ve played the original 100 times, once back in 1998, or never at all, I highly recommend this beautiful retelling of a legend.

Forbes - Ollie Barder - 9 / 10

Overall, this new Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is a visual tour-de-force, with a beautiful and intricate game world to explore with updated controls and camera. The character designs are off-putting, but the game is still something to be treasured, and after all these years, I may finally include it in my top five Zelda games.

TheSixthAxis - Stefan L. - 9 / 10

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is one of the all-time greatest games, of that there's no doubt, and this remake is a glorious way to re-experience this adventure. Nintendo strikes an excellent balance between keeping much of the original feel and the modern niceties of graphics, controls and design. Sure, it might take a little while to get used to the new look, but we should be used to that with Zelda games by now...

COGconnected - James Paley - 90 / 100

Not every remake feels properly justified. I don’t know for certain if the Ocarina remake needs to exist, but it’s a pretty excellent game. The visuals are a huge improvement, the controls are nicely upgraded, and the addition of voice acting is a big plus. Also, you can play an actual instrument to use the songs in-game, which is extremely cool. I’m not totally in love with all the new character models. But most of them are awesome. I also wish there wasn’t quite so much waiting around while you fight, but that seems much harder to fix. At least, you couldn’t really do so and still have it feel like Ocarina of Time. If you’re any kind of Zelda fan, this game is a must-buy. Even if you’re not, this is an excellent way to experience a classic for the first time.
