Will be by far the most consequential order he has made so far, and I have a hard time seeing how it will pay off for him politically. All the "news" emanating from new tariffs and retaliatory tariffs will be from people who are getting hurt by them. The main benefit from them will be increased government revenue and stuff like that, but that's abstract. I expect a rapid backtrack from Trump, though I guess he had to do something like this to maintain his credibility, after talking about tariffs for so long. |
