I think I have mentioned, I spent a brief while in Saudi trying to teach something slightly but not overly technical to a a branch of their government. Total waste of time. one other factor is that equality theories used to be 'dual-coded' - it was set out for public consumption, but many academics and officials understood that it was propaganda/polite fiction.
however, newer generations of academics and even elites failed to pick up on the subtext, and many have adopted the fiction as their reality. |
