No Comply

A fan favorite of old heads, as this one is on an early EP and not their lone full length album but was a staple of their live performances. I like their early recordings because the singer's voice retains a kind of nasally punk tone to it that gives way to full scratchy shouting in their later recordings.
This song has elements of hardcore, reggae and street punk and shows elements of the band's range in stark contrast to almost all of their contemporaries.

Downpressors
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Whc3QRc_Um0
The intro with Pat's very cool overdriven bass line with Frank's guitar work over it is really cool. From there the song has an aggressive, choppy feel to it before smoothing out to a more bouncy portion. The lyrics are about avoiding people who bring you down. It's a popular song, and I like it though I tend to skip this track pretty often.

How do you Spell Belief?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryrk7ojgMxU
At 3:38, it is among their longest and wordiest songs. It is philosophical and critical of religion. This track is toward the end of the album "Generica" which many feel is a concept album. Each track is introspective or a critique/commentary on an aspect of modern society and culture. This feels like the final destruction before the rebirth and celebration of the individual in the album's final track "Rising Sun Experience". The music is heavy to capture that. The pace is slower than the other tracks and has a really tasteful guitar solo: something seldom found in hardcore music and ends with an acoustic piece with the following poem read over it.
Before birth to after death
Facing the timeless void
Absence of light, creation of life
only to be destroyed
no matter what it is you believe
You'll never truly know
until...the end

Empty Words
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk3lu0AOnRg
This is one of my favorite tracks on the album and I feel is somewhat underappreciated. The lyrics describe the silent suffering and emptiness of ordinary capitalist life and begs to find meaning and belief in something real. The instrumental music is great. I love the minor key bass runs and interplay between the guitar hook and bass line. They create a feeling of stress and urgency that matches the lyrics, which I've copy pasted below for your reference.
SHIFTY WORLD - THE ANDROIDS UTTER WORDS SO PROCESSED UNDER TRUTH PEOPLE FIND THAT HORROR REALLY SHOWS US WHO WE ARE / IN DISGUISE - A MASK OF NONSENSE COVERS THE FEELINGS TRAPPED INSIDE, AFRAID OF LOOSING WHAT'S REAL TO COWER INTO PRIDE / MIRROR IMAGE DECEIT IS SCREAMING "NOTHING'S WRONG" NO ONE UNDERSTANDS THEIR PAIN AS A SUFFERING LIFE GOES ON / MATERIAL SHIT STACKS IN ACCESS WHEN DEAD PRESIDENTS CAUSE YOU STRESS / FROM CUT THROAT CARRERS TO BORROW IN DEBT / THE CYCLE OF OUR LIVES IS: REPEAT , REPEAT, FOLLOW, DREAM. ENDURING MISERY / IT'S FEAR AND PROCESS LIKE CLOCKWORK PRECISION / FUCKING UP YOUR SPEECH, I THROW A WRENCH INTO THE GEARS WITHIN / SPEWING SHIT / I WISH WAS SILENCE / BUT YOU, YOU INSIST ON COMPLIANCE / YOU DISLOCATE THE LOGIC BEARING TRUTH / IN YOUR MUNDANE CONVERSATION GROVELING AMONG THE BIGOTS - FUCK YOU. EMPTINESS IS CONSUMING THE AVERAGE JOES / SPEAKING TO ME WITH FORKED TONGUES / ALL I HEAR IS WORDS SO EMPTY IT'S SAD BUT TRUE IT MAKES ME WANNA SCREAM / WORDS SO EMPTY WITH NO BACKBONE
OVERTHROWING THE SCENE / LOOKING FOR SOMETHING MORE IN THIS LIFE THAN THE CHEAP CAPITALIST DREAMS / WHAT DO YOU LIVE FOR? WHAT DID YOU SAY? WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE?

I don't wanna
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4-GMvtUBtY
One of the band's earliest songs appearing on their 1996 self titled EP but not on their full length album, which I kind of get because it doesn't really fit in with the feel and themes of the rest of the tracks, which is fitting for the song's repeated shouting of "i don't wanna". Just imagine a crowded new brunswick basement filled with angry punk kids shouting "i don't fucking wanna!" TSINAH is a classic and absolutely will not be told what to do ever.
