Date: May 14th, 2024 12:55 AM Author: wild state No Games, systems only have a handful of exclusives, AAA gaming is all shit. Console companies that clearly don’t care about Games or customers. Maybe Nintendo is the exception.
Most games are no different than the genres set out in thr Xbox 360 era, just slightly better graphics now (but not a ton better)
A few bright spots like VR and a few other things that bring out the wonder, but otherwise it’s all uninspiring shit these days. |

First, we now have 50 years of video games. Every aspect of our lives has been simulated in video games. Sports, racing, fighting, war, puzzles etc. Every step of the way, each new great game was groundbreaking because no similar game preceded it and the developers had new, revolutionary technology to build on.
How do you come up with a fresh, new great video game idea with no new technology and decades of games preceding you? It's like telling a group of young talented musicians to write the best rock n' roll song of all time in 2024.

I am a fucking nerd but I am also having a blast with a high end racing sim steering wheel setup on my PC. |

Date: May 14th, 2024 11:35 AM Author: laughsome sinister temple boiling water the point that there are already so many great games from the 90's to 2020 goes underappreciated here, i think. there must have been a tendency when film was a newer medium to latch onto everything FRESH just because it's new, before there was truly a catalogue of classics to go back to. the big difference with vidija previously was the difficulty in emulating older games or shittier graphics/sound/other factors due to technical limitations, but remasters are slowly making more and more actually good (read: old) games stand up to the polish of new releases. now we actually get more choice here. do you spend your limited time playing the LATEST marvel movie equivalent of some shitty open world game that feels procedurally generated, or do you want to spend more time with old masterpieces that we can finally recognize as true classics?
