A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
As for how the NRA interprets this, -- which is really what the original question asks -- you'll have to take a look and see what their position is re the 2nd amendment and, say gun registration, limitations on the number of guns in a household, limitations on the type of weapons that are actually regulated, what militia, what does well regulated mean etc.

It doesn't really help.
the second amendment was largely although not entirely about making sure that posses could still form and arm themselves to round up escaped slaves. They'd get rowdy and smash shit up--but the slave holding states wanted to make sure that they could still have their posses to keep their slaves in order.
That's why i said the second amendment is the worm at the heart of the constitution. Do something crazy like institutionalize slavery, and other shit gets warped as well.
Because there are a lot of aspie folks on here please note that I said "largely"--you understand what that means I assume. There are other reasons not otherwise articulated here. |

You gave two instances and then a stat that suggests that armed bystanders effectively stopped mass shooters in 4 of 50 instances. There’s no assessment in the data as to how many of those mass shootings could have been stopped w tighter gun control laws generally. Of the 46 remaining shooter episodes, how many would be struck if there were greater restrictions on access to guns generally? 15? 30? You are still pursuing one of the dumbest arguments out there.
And I might add to the extent that the 2nd amendment is mixed up in racebaiting fears about armed blacks, black folks WANT greater gun control laws. That’s also from the article you linked to above. |

You asked for examples and I gave them. And you also neglect to mention that the article notes that many shootings occur in areas where concealed carry is banned, so there is no opportunity for a "good guy with a gun" in that circumstance. |
