idk what "serious mental disorder" i was "treated for", but yes, i saw a therapist to help me manage my mood. my only diagnoses were depression and ADHD haha (i don't actually have it but dr. gave me adderall).
TBF may benefit from treatment for a "serious mental disorder" as well. i would give him the info for my former therapist, but she's already been stalked and harassed by a patient before (and even had to change offices because of it). |

I'm not trying to be an asshole here. I'm dating a girl with BPD and have another close friend with BPD. And, well, diagnosing a stranger on the Internet based on the contents of their poasts is not exactly an exact science, but some of the things you have written about your IRL are definitely consistent with BPD symptoms. For example, both my friend and my girlfriend basically only date unemployed/underemployed losers who have very little going for them. The friend has a STEM masters and earns six figures at a prestigious research institute; her boyfriend earns minimum wage working at a vape shop. The current girlfriend's last two boyfriends were unemployed and literally depended on her to put food in their mouths. I guess the BPD fear of abandonment is so intense that they only want to date guys who are completely dependent on them for everything because they are so terrified of their partner leaving them. So when you wrote about the Chipotle boyfriend... Yeah...
Like I said, I'm not trying to be an asshole. Dialectical behavioral therapy is remarkably effective for BPD. My current gf still has her meltdowns, but they are less frequent and less severe. (And, well, she is now dating a guy who at least has a job. :) ) So I just thought I'd toss that out there.
Also, for the record, I live on the East Coast and have a girlfriend, so I am not "white knighting" Box because I want to fuck her. I'm old fashioned, and when I want to fuck a girl, I do things like compliment her shoes and take her out to dinner rather than creeping on them on xoxo. I'm sure I will get abuse for this poast regardless, but I don't really care. Yes, you should probably have thick skin if you spend time on the Internet (especially on xoxo). At the same time, I know that there are real people behind these monikers. And people with BPD tend to feel negative emotions much more intensely than neurotypical people. So maybe think before you bully strangers online. |

(lazy ex wasn't actually an aspiring musician in terms of career goals, but it's the same idea.)
