what's the story on this? i thought this program was solid, written into the notes, enacted by congress, etc. why is it getting tied up in biden's executive action bullshit?

Long story short Biden tried doing a shitload of EOsike an idiot and it fucked up everyone on PAYE and SAVE. Ironically IBR is good lmao and PSLF is going through for people.

It would take an act of congress to get rid of PSLF (including retroactively). Guess what Republicans now control all of congress and the white house

it was passed by republicans. i don't think PSLF is a big target, it benefits the govt to have a bunch of college educated indentured servants. republicans are against the various forgiveness for votes schemes.

fair, but are they really going to wipe out all the payment plans and bury zoomers and millennials in 8% payments for the rest of their lives?

Payment plans are currently 10% discretionary income. I think those will still be around (though they do have the power to remove all of them to please their base of uneducateds). I do feel that PSLF will be revoked for all...

it's weird, i don't recall any criticism of PSLF and very little criticism of the 20 year 10%/mo payment plan for everyone else. it seems like biden pushed it too far with his EOs and now they're tossing the whole baby out.

They switched everyone on REPAYE to SAVE and now they're trying to scrap SAVE. It's a mess.
