But it’s a much more fragile peace/alliance than Trumpmos want to acknowledge. I am worried that the focus should be on cementing these gains and reinforcing them with policy and massaging focus. It feels very possible that Trump will trigger a downturn with all his shit flooding the zone, normie/non-politics obsesseds and Indy’s will sour on all of this, and we will stay stuck in this 50/50 paralysis, and the Dems will win back the house and win the close races in the senate in 2026. At that point MAGA would be putting a lot of weight on Vance’s shoulders and I just don’t buy that he’s strong enough to carry it. There is no long term strategy. Vance's flaws (ie not literally being Donald J Trump) are Vance's flaws. All we can do is build a coalition in the moment. Friends are bonding.
