Not a scary movie recommendation but -- if you like Toni Collette you might like her in the movie Japanese Story from a few years ago.

I would recommend others not watch this movie if you have any Christian beliefs. This movie deals with a named demon (paimon) that has been an irl object of witchcraft and satanic worship. It's best to not open your mind to these kinds of things.

apocalyptic preachers (most famous is Jesus, of course) from 2000 years ago understood that the world is a spiritual battleground, and humans are constantly under attacks from demonic forces. we obviously don't know exactly how or why, but exposing yourself to demons, even in media, permits them to exert control over your life. there are legitimate accounts of demonic possession, and the possessed usually dabbled in some kind of witchcraft or otherwise opened themselves up to that world.

it's best just to avoid this entirely. pray multiple times a day to Jesus.

this applies to everyone, but people (even some "Christians") will call you crazy or superstitious for believing this.

i mean most people think they're OK. do you think that there's some kind of influence--even small ones--exerted over everyone when they're watching scary movies?

I don't think this applies to scary movies generally. I do think it applies to scary movies that explicitly invoke Satan or involve satanic imagery or demons. This movie is especially bad because it is a "real" demon that has historically been an object of worship and may in fact exist.

I have always thought that signals transmitted the air, e.g. sound, are one of their favorite ways to attack. Satan is said to be the "the prince of the power of the air".

how did you develop this belief? have you researched this area? for a long time i didnt believe in these sort of things, and would explain them away by reasoning that the possessed person was simply insane, but i am more of a believer in it now.

I came to this conclusion by reading the gospels in full and being blown away by the image of the demoniac and the demons obeying Jesus. There is no reason to believe that those forces have left. If you believe the gospels, you necessarily have to believe in demons.

Catholics have the best resources on demonic possession and there are true accounts of possession written by educated, rational, intelligent priests. They are worth reading.

You can also read "the saints who saw hell" for other accounts of interaction with demons and the dark place.

Finally, my own subjective experience in dealing with satanic elements at various times has confirmed that this is true to me.

Ty brother Im interested in hearing. I have been listening to a lot of exorcists testimony about what they have witnessed. It seems pretty simple: either they (PhDs, priests, educated people) are all lying, or either it is definitely true. The stuff they describe repeatedly is really convincing, if you accept it.
