what's shocking to me about this whole thing is that zelensky balked at it. it's a fucking agreement between two soverign countries. ukraine could renege on it or america could forgive it. all of these international rights and guarantees are retarded. didn't we *already* implicitly have a security guarantee for ukraine when biden and co expressed support forever? ukraine can't go to the hague and force the US the honor it's commitments. and the US can't make ukraine honor any mineral rights without an invasion. it's not like when sent castro a bill for all the us shit the communists nationalized.

I think it's entirely possible that this blowup with Trump is a net positive for Zelensky, since Europe was tiring of supporting Ukraine, but they are fired up as fuck to stick it to Trump and show they can do things on their own. Britain announced a new 2.7 billion dollar aid package right after the spat with Trump, and this will no doubt incentivize other EU countries to dig deep.

Meanwhile, this doesn't seem to have hurt Trump any with his base, but it has caused him to be viewed by Ukraine supporters worldwide with complete revulsion. Having a motivated opposition is never a good thing in politics.

But people, especially the Euros, are not behaving logically. You can tell from how the British government is even shying away from their own ambassador Peter Mandelson's straightforward urge to Zelensky to sign the deal and get on with it.

Two things will happen:

1. Zelensky backs down and signs the deal and talks proceed towards a ceasefire and this past week will be a footnote not even remembered for the history books.

2. Zelensky, urged by the Euros and their hatred of Trump, doubles down, the US walks away completely, the Euros begin to bankrupt themselves and throw money at Ukraine and the carnage continues into a repeat of WWI with unforeseen outcomes for all parties involved.

The Euro's reaction is growing into something bigger than just aiding Ukraine. And it's starting to become dangerous. For them, that is, not us. I'm hoping 1 will win out eventually even if it takes another week or two, but there's a good chance 2 will happen.

In order to get a deal, Trump, Zelensky, and Putin all need to have something they can point to and say "we won." That's what you need for a deal.

Zelensky and the press seem to think that we should not agree to a deal unless Russia gives up all their territory, Ukraine gets free protection for life from NATO, and Putin is tried for war crimes.

This is why Vance and Rubio are so frustrated - its a stupid position.

it would’ve been better if zelensky walked out of the white house with a deal on friday. vance shouldn’t have escalated zelensky’s retarded provocations which were encouraged by the dems in the first place. should’ve ended the photo op sooner and went into private meetings and gotten it done. that’s why they had the meeting in the first place, not to have a blow up that led to this.

The funny thing is he is simply playing hardball about the mineral rights. Zelenskyy is going to bend the knee, Trump wins big, and Ukraine tied to US economy and American corporations is a deeper bond than EU and NATO.
