for the individual, smoking with a hot cup of coffee can be one of the greatest pleasures in life. The trick is to not get addicted and keep it as a rare treat - and try to avoid being a nuisance to other people - not easy to do. That said, the people who get up in arms about a small whiff of smoke outside in public need to chill the fuck out and have a fag.
Was in Greece a few months ago and the airport has a smoking room in the middle of the terminal with a swinging door on a hinge. I don't even smoke that often and damn was it fucking wonderful to have the freedom to smoke inside 30 mins before my flight.

Doesn't work like that for many people. Healthy people get slammed with cancer, Parkinsons, dementia, alzheimers. It's really crapshoot. Know people who were fit and healthy and ate right and dropped dead of heart attacks. Or got crippled by a stroke and lingered half dead for a few years.
Point is, the idea if you do everything right is a guaranteed ticket to living to be 100 in the fullness of health and your mental faculties is plain wrong. Your typical person in their 90s is living a life steadily fading away.
Pertinent to this thread, agree that smoking is terrible and doesn't help your long term health. But avoiding smoking is not a guarantee you will get an extra 10 years of healthy and active life either.
