never saw it before. definitely worth a watch. for a movie 23 years old and pre-CGI bullshit, the production value is simply amazing. the theatrics made it worth a watch alone. and nicole kidman, uunnnghhhh. disappointingly, no nudity from her.
the musical aspect was really weird. 1900 paris and they're singing songs from the sound of music, whitney houston, david boies, etc. it reminded me of some weird mixed up era shit like romeo and juliet, and then it wasn't until after that i realized it was the same director.
wife really liked the bollywood / turd theme.
wife and i had two totally different takes on the plot. i thought it was a sad story and felt bad for the guy and thought he got screwed over. wife got maf that i'm always sympathetic for men, and serves him right for trying to fall in love with a whore. wife thought it was sad bc it shows women being exploited.
there's nothing gay about this movie fyi.
