Got my grades back 1L fall semester and not only did I get no CALIs, I also got an A- in one of my doctrinals (the one for LRW was expected) for a GPA just under 3.9. I go to a T14 school with a B+ curve. The rankings aren't out yet, but I feel like at least ten people have to have performed better than me and I feel like an embarrassment.
I didn't do any of the readings (just kinda skimmed them before exams), and I didn't make any outlines or briefs, take notes, or use any supplements; just showed up for classes. I got great feedback on my A- so I have an idea on how to improve in the future, but it's hard not to take this as a mark on my intelligence. I didn't even get the CALI in the class I liked the most!
Any tips/advice on how to improve my performance?
