everything is always implicit, noone ever explicitly asks "what race are you" because its too awkward/clunky construction & "where you from" inevitably allows for a degree of obfuscation that is taken advantage of by anyone with a brain and ego to avoid narcisstic injury or potential loss of human capital/credibility.....
