and exclude others from it. Like “wow, this beachfront property is nice, I think I’ll decide to live here and not let anyone else enjoy this spot”. What gives them the right to do this? It’s not their planet, they didn’t create it.

Why would creating your own planet give you the right to exclude people from it? It’s not like you created the universe

"Right to access" laws regarding natural features are expanding in many prefectures of the United States

The State of Israel claims a kind of property right that's never been recognized internationally. It's never not been in limbo in that regard.

It's only by common consent that anyone is able to do it, on any scale. Some sort of psychology has to occur at the population level. That's true even for someone claiming ownership of movable property, let alone a parcel of land.

Here's how most of humanity did it for most of the time we've existed as a species:

You lived with your family. POSSIBLY your family had grown large enough to be considered a "tribe," but at a bare minimum you lived with your family.

Your family would move with the seasons, never staying in one place for 12 months at a time. Other animals would be doing the same thing, and for that matter any forager would move to where there's fresh berries etc at any given time of year.

During any length of time you spent in a location, members of your family/tribe would enjoy unfettered access to the land they were able to defend by themselves. Any other family passing by would be notified what resources/land was being claimed by your family/tribe at that moment. However, if your family/tribe couldn't defend the land you were on, you needed to move on and find something else to eat.

That was the sense in which property was owned until after the Younger Dryas. It's perfectly reasonable to ask why we stopped doing things the old way.
