"treatment centers" are complete flame scam and have been subject to so many lawsuits. they hire "counselors" who are past drug addicts with no high school diploma even and bill medical time for it. overbill people for like 5 minute sessions that they book back-to-back and call them hour long sessions and bill 200 an hour for it. its lulzy. almost all of it is non-medical treatment, aa based unproven nonsense. the stuff that is "medical" is prescribing fake craving pills and replacement drugs.

Eh, getting people away from their habits for 30 days while exposing them to AA isn't perfect, but it's better than any other solution.
I found that the "operations manager" in one of these centers was some kind of neo-nazi in Huntington Beach in the early 2000s as a teenager and was arrested with a group of guys for beating and permanently brain-damaging some random Mexican dude walking through their neighborhood. He's also really into MMA and wins tons of events at some really light weight like 150 or something.
