I think a lot of it depends on the market too. (The 7 callback-no offer guy targeted CA.)

However, once they are called back, we non NYU/CLS-ers still have to compete against them, and these schools are ranked higher, which may or may not mean anything at the callback stage. I know from seeing the data on TLS for firms that the callback:offer ratio can be significantly different depending on the school one is at.
