Outside of the North East, this is way less common. There are also a lot of day camps that run for the same periods, but kids return home each night. camp is such a generic term that it could mean a sleepaway camp for high school kids for the entire summer, or it could mean some 1st grade stem day camp. there's no harm in being more descriptive. |
