I liked living in NY but never spent enough money or had the type of friends that would encourage me to take full advantage of it.
I can live anywhere and be okay - though I will say NYC is less boring than most places.

Date: March 10th, 2009 12:39 PM Author: exciting electric furnace garrison I was walking in the east village going out from dinner with 2 girls. 11:30 fucking pm in the crowded street. very "safe" area.
I see this group of black guys from 20-40 years old hassling 4 asian kids - three guys and a girl.
They try to get away and the muggers surround them and demand money, I am walking right behind the whole thing. The smallest asian kid - this guy is literally 5'5" maybe 130 pounds - he pushes through the circle and then they all jump him. They just start pounding his ass and flailing on him like a mob beat down.
I run up and yell at them to get the fuck off. Then I pull 2 of the guys off, putting on in a half nelson. They all turn on me and start howling at me. I say "LEAVE MY FRIEND ALONE" and then someone jacks me in the back of the head from behind. I stagger and then the rest of them jump me and pound my head in. Someone goes for my wallet and I shove them away.
I have a gushing nose and bruises everywhere. They run off after 10 seconds or so. I chase them down and they get arrested.
5'5 asian kid is okay with some bruises and his pussy friends are standing there calling the cops.

3 minutes later with the muggers in custody, the fucking asians come up from behind and identify the attackers with me. |

I reformed my squat form to do a wider stance and go much lower (rippetoe instructions) and am seeing some strength gains but not going above 315 X 6 for now.
Dead lift I am back to 335 or 355 reps, but taking it easy. reformed the form for that too. I am wondering at what age we need to give up DL totally. |

The scam the muggers were running was one dude pretended to be blind (whacking some stick everywhere) and bumped into the asian kid and fell down. The others surrounded the asians and demanded money for knocking down a "blind man".
When they arrested the guy who pretended to be blind, he flipped out and tried to fight the cops. He had 4 of them on him and he was still fighting and swearing calling them fucking pigs, etc.
One of the cops stuck the pepper spray in his face and squirted it directly up his nostrils. I have never heard someone scream with that kind of agony. God does know lulz. |

Just watch out with the hero thing. A few years ago, I stopped an asshole as he was beating his girlfriend. He pulled out a gigantic fucking Bowie knife. This was in broad daylight on a crowded New York street. I was sure I was fucked, cause a motherfucker that crazy will kill you. I pulled off my shirt to show off my scar collection and dared him to stab me. He declined. Instead, we stood there arguing for a minute or two. He was challenging me to attack him and I was telling him to stab me.
Anti-climatically, a police car jumped onto the curb and screeched to a stop right behind the guy. Two cops jumped out with guns drawn. The pussy threw the knife away and dropped to the ground. I kicked him in the head a few times. The cops told me to stop, and I did because they had guns. They then proceeded to arrest the dude and punched him in the head a few times before putting him in the car. Then a shit load of cop cars poured into the area. I think the dude got deported.
But you are a true hero. I want to see you a long and happy life. |
