Date: February 24th, 2025 5:27 PM Author: Ass Sunstein You have to compare it to what was available at the time. Kid Icarus was released in the US very early in the NES cycle, in July 1987, that's before Metroid, Zelda, Punch-Out, Mega Man, and most of the games considered NES classics today.
Before Kid Icarus came out, all you had was the original set of 1985 release games (SMB1 and the original set of Nintendo sports games mainly), Ghosts N Goblins, Gradius, and Castlevania 1, and about 2 dozen largely SPS games. There really wasn't much reason to buy an NES before 1987 when decent games started coming out.

if you just charged through trying to kill everything like mario, you'd usually get wrecked or run out of weaponry. |
